Holiday Dilemma: Can We Offer an Alternate Day Off for Republic Day in Haryana?

I want to inquire about holiday policies. This year, 26th January (Republic Day) falls on a Sunday, and some employees are scheduled to work on that day. Now, they are requesting a holiday on another day. When I discussed this with my boss, he refused to provide a holiday on another day as per company policies. So, kindly suggest to me if it is possible to arrange a holiday on another day in Haryana, India.

By making your employees work on a national holiday without prior permission, it is a grave error on your part. The company is liable to pay twice the salary for the day as well as provide a compensatory day off.
