How Many HR Staff Do You Really Need for Different Employee Counts? Seeking Clarity!

praba221990@gmail.com
Hi everyone, can anyone solve my doubts regarding the number of HR persons required for the number of employees working in an organization?

HR Staffing Requirements Based on Employee Count

1. If there are below 100 or above 100 employees working in an organization, how many HR persons are needed?
2. If there are more than 300, 500, or 800 employees working, how many HR persons are needed?

I need clear information on this, please. Awaiting your response.

Factors Influencing the Appointment of HR Officers

There is no statutory provision for appointing an HR officer as in the case of the appointment of Welfare Officers in factories. The requirement of HR officers in an organization depends upon various factors, some of which are intangible and some tangible as follows:

• The level of an individual officer's efficiency in terms of knowledge and skills, etc.

• The industrial relations climate. If peaceful, it saves a lot of time for the HR department. If complex, it consumes a lot of time to deal with issues.

• The workload of daily tasks—whether the HR department looks after only HR work or also has to handle administrative work like housekeeping, etc.

• The number of court cases; attending courts and preparing replies take a lot of time.

• The soundness of systems and methods of working in place; a well-defined system brings clarity to the method of working.

• The level of computerization of processes.

• The burden of statutory compliances.

• The rate of employee turnover as it compels the organization to recruit employees repeatedly and attend to Full and Final settlements, etc.

Thus, it all depends on the above factors. Accordingly, you need to plan the requirement.
