Curious About Work Culture Differences Between Placement Firms and Companies? Let's Discuss!

rana.qasim85@gmail.com
I was working in a consultancy with a small group as a recruitment consultant. Now, I want to switch to a company. I have applied to many companies and am receiving calls. Can anyone tell me the difference in work culture between a placement firm and a company? I want to be well prepared for the interview.

Thank you.

Understanding Work Culture Differences

Work culture in both a recruitment consultancy and a company may be similar, though the establishments are different. The characteristic features of a good culture, such as manners, etiquette, the tradition of grooming, sharing, caring, and consulting, may be the same.

Differences in Functions and Roles

Probably, you want to know about the difference in functions and roles between a recruitment consultancy and a company. In a recruitment consultancy, your role is specialized, primarily confined to recruitment. Your skills have more of a sales and marketing orientation, as you need to convert a contact into a contract with a company.

In contrast, the HR role in a company is multi-functional, ranging from recruitment to retirement. You need to look after manpower planning, sourcing, deployment, training, motivation, employee engagement, statutory compliances, disciplinary management, grievance handling, employee relations, and full and final settlement procedures. It thus offers far wider exposure depending on the size, nature of industrial/business activity, work traditions, etc.

You can make a decision depending on your career aspirations and comfort level.
