Query Regarding Pension and EDLI Benefit Eligibility For Employee Who Left Company and Subsequently Passed Away

nareshdeshmukh
Dear All, an employee of our company left on 01/05/2013 (as per the date of leaving in Form No. 10); unfortunately, he passed away on 19/09/2013.

Queries Regarding Employee Benefits

I have two queries:
- Was he eligible for a pension?
- Was he eligible for EDLI benefits?

I would appreciate your guidance on this matter.

Thanks,

Naresh

EDLI is not applicable in this case. Regarding the pension, kindly provide the following details: Date of birth, date of joining, salary on 16.11.95 (if applicable), average salary of the last twelve months, etc.

The widow will receive Rs. 2051 per month as a pension. Additionally, two children will each receive Rs. 513. To apply for the pension, please fill out form 10D.

If the employee died 4 months after he left your company, EDLI is not applicable as he was no longer working with you. With regard to the pension, it depends on how long he was working and whether he had adequate contributions to his PF account.
