Dear Ashwini,
The due date for submission of Monthly EPF Contribution is the 15th day of following month.
Vide EPF Circular No. C/MD/Apply/Genl/64 dt. 28-04-1964, all the unexempted establishments were allowed 5 days grace period.
The circular is attached.
Hope this will helpful for you and all other members.
The grace period mentioned in the circular applies only to Tamil Nadu I think.
It has been issued by the Chennai Office of the EPFO.
I do not think other departments have issued such a circular.
Secondly, that was in year 1964 and i dont think it is relevant today.
Dear Saswata ji,
On grace period of 5 days, there are two circulars by CPFC first one bearing No.E.128(1) 60-III dated 19.03.1964 and second one bearing No.E11/128 (section 14-B Amendment)/73 dated 24.10.1973.
Both the circulars by CPFC are in vogue till date all over India. Both the circulars I am trying to get through various sources since long. Can any one help me?
To the best of my knowledge, there was a grace of 1 day given for electronic payments, that too because it clears immediately as compared to payment by a cheque. The circulars for grace period were only in the nature of advisory to the field officers not to take legal action on minor delays. In case of repeated delays, this would (to my knowledge) it would not apply. In any case, there is no grace period in the online systems which compute interest of any delay
Dear Saswata ji,
I do agree with you to the extend only up to grace period is to be sparingly used and it can not be a regular practice. Rest of the things I leave to other seniors and experts to comment.
Thanks for the information..by any one help us to know, can we make e-payment to avoild last minute hassle and ensure deposits are made with in timelines.
