I have one and a half years of experience in hardcore recruitment, and now it's time for the last semester of my MBA. So, my question is, is it possible to shift to an HR generalist profile from recruitment? If possible, how can I apply, and what are the skills I should maintain for this job?

Being an HR Generalist is a vital role, and one must have a strong knowledge of the HR gamut, including pre- and post-recruitment activities, manpower planning, induction programs, training and development, compensation and benefits, performance appraisal, payroll management, statutory compliance, and handling industrial relations and employee relations issues. The profile of an HR Generalist can vary from organization to organization.

Yes, you can shift into a generalist role. Try to avoid offers for recruitment and get into any company with any role apart from recruitment, which will help you to grow into a generalist profile. Maybe in the first couple of years, you might be given specific assignments, but if you perform well, you can certainly achieve your goal.

The basic skills I would look for in a fresher are communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, and good subject knowledge.
