Struggling to Land Interviews with 5 Years in HR: Is It the Market or My Approach?

barathnikhil
I have 5 years of experience in the HR Generalist profile with expertise in Performance Management, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits, Competency Mapping, Resource Planning, HRIS, and Nurturing Innovation. Due to my experience working in an SMB, I have an in-depth understanding of how IT businesses operate. This understanding has helped me deliver business expectations successfully.

I have posted my profile on Naukri, Monster, Shine, Timesjob, Headhonchos, etc., and contacted many of my friends. I started hunting 3 weeks back. Till now, I have received 2 recruiter calls but no interview calls. Currently, I am located in Calicut, Kerala. My location preference is Bangalore/Kerala/Chennai.

Now I am getting worried that I am not receiving any interview calls. Is the job situation so bad? Or do I need to try anything else? Please help. I am uploading my profile here. If anyone is interested, you can contact me.

I have gone through your resume, and although you have excelled in your studies and gained ample experience, these qualities are expected by most employers. Frankly, it seems you have not considered what comes next after reaching a certain age or during a recession. You have not prepared yourself for such scenarios, such as upskilling in areas like computerized operations of PF, ESIC, payroll software (Excel-based), labor compliances, etc. These are skills you could acquire now to enhance your employability with mid-tier employers for better pay and designation.

Wishing you the best of luck!

Dear Nikhil, I have gone through your resume. Although you have completed your studies with flying colors and have ample experience, these are requirements for large employee bases in firms/companies/organizations. Frankly speaking, you have not considered what happens after a certain age or during a recession. You were not prepared for that. For instance, you have time to take short-term courses in computerized operations of PF/ESIC/Payroll software - Excel-based, and labor compliances, etc., which you can do at present. This would enable you to be employed by mid-category employers for better pay and designation. Wishing you good luck!

Course Recommendations

You are right. Do you have any idea where I can learn such a course from? I didn't find any in my city. Online courses would be beneficial, I guess. Please suggest if you know any.
