What Interview Questions Should I Expect for a Generalist Role in Compliance and Payroll?

Hi, please suggest some interview questions that may come up for the position of a generalist profile, specifically focusing on statutory compliance and payroll.

Discussion on HR Generalist Responsibilities

Being an HR Generalist means being involved in all HR functions. I will present a few questions for discussion:

- What terms are involved in the salary process?
- Could you provide full details on PF contributions, including administrative charges?
- What does EDLI stand for?
- What are the return dates for PF and ESI?
- How can one claim PF?
- What is the process for transferring PF accounts from one company to another?
- Could you explain the norms regarding contractor labor?
- Which statutory documents should be maintained in the office?
- What is our recruitment policy?
- How can we perform a portal search similar to Naukri?

Best of luck, and if you have any doubts, please feel free to email me at [Email Removed For Privacy Reasons].

Thank you.

For compliance, they will ask you about PF Employee & Employer Contribution details. They will also inquire briefly about PF, such as the pension amount, the limit of the pension, and how many years you can withdraw the pension, etc.

ESIC Contribution

Secondly, they will ask you about ESIC Contribution, ESIC limits, benefits, etc.

PT & MLWF Details

Then, they will ask you about PT & MLWF, like due dates, contribution amount limits, etc. They may also ask about PF & ESIC forms, such as which form you have to submit for withdrawing the PF amount, etc.

Additional Inquiries

Additionally, they may inquire about how you will calculate OT, new joined employees' documentation formalities, etc.

Many have replied to your queries, and those are very much in line with the interview process. I have nothing more to add on this subject, and honestly, I do not want to burden you with further legal complexities and jargon. I would rather tell you about the expectations of an interviewer when you are sitting across the table.

Expectations of an Interviewer

For me and many others, an interviewee (not a fresher) should not be dragged on the subject but be asked only tidbits of essentials and then be switched over to "Career Projection" and "Test for Attitude."

If you are preparing for an interview, take cover-up as said.

Thank you.
