Understanding Leave Policies in Indian Private Companies: What Should HR Know?

I am working as an HR Generalist. I have recently joined the organization, so I want to know the types of leaves and the number of leaves allowed in private limited companies in India.

Types of Leave in Private Limited Companies

Leave types include CL (Casual Leave), PL (Privilege Leave), and SL (Sick Leave). In some companies, leaves are provided as per HR policy with the following allocation:
- CL: 20 per year
- PL: 40 per year
- SL: 20 per year

Please clarify which type of industry you are working in. Are you operating under the Factories Act or the Shops & Establishment Act? Moreover, each organization has its own standing orders which stipulate their own leave policies.

Leave Entitlement Overview

Planned Leave: 12 days
Sick Leave: 6 days

When the employee completes the first month from the date of joining, they are eligible for 1.5 days of PL and 0.5 days of SL.
