Transitioning from Sales to HR: How Can I Tailor My CV for Success?

nawidhaidari
I have over 8 years of sales experience in different organizations. Now, I would like to transition from a sales profession to an HR profession. I recently finished my BBA with a specialization in Management. My thesis topic focused on how annual performance appraisals affect employee job satisfaction.

Seeking Advice on CV Tailoring for HR Positions

I am seeking your support on how to tailor my CV to position myself as a potential candidate for HR positions.

Thank you.

Dear members,

Advice for Transitioning to HR

As an HR professional, I would suggest both of you strive to be good HR professionals. Firstly, one member wishes to transition from sales to HR. While it is beneficial to work in HR, considering your extensive 8 years of experience in sales and in-depth sales knowledge, I would advise against it. Transitioning to HR without a solid foundation and expecting to maintain your current salary may be challenging. However, if you are clear about your career vision and are not constrained by monetary concerns, I recommend exploring HR opportunities in a manufacturing organization where you can learn quickly.

Considering a Shift to HR

The second member is contemplating another shift to the HR field. Opting for a career in HR rather than remaining a secretary is a commendable choice. To excel as an HR professional, reinforce your existing HR knowledge as a strong foundation. Tailor your CV accordingly and await suitable opportunities aligned with your expertise.

Thank you.

Dear members,

Being an HR professional, I would suggest both of you strive to excel in your roles as HR professionals. The first member is considering transitioning from sales to HR, which can be a positive move. However, with 8 years of extensive experience in the sales field and a deep understanding of sales, I would advise against it. Transitioning to HR, especially at the same salary level, may be challenging. If you are clear about your goals and are not constrained by financial concerns, consider exploring HR opportunities in a manufacturing organization, where you can learn quickly.

The second member is also contemplating a shift to HR, which is a commendable decision compared to remaining a secretary. To become a successful HR professional, strengthen your existing knowledge of HR and tailor your CV accordingly. Be patient and wait for the right opportunity that aligns with your expertise.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I would like to mention that during my tenure as an Executive Assistant to the CEO, I was involved in various HR activities. I am hopeful that my career will successfully transition into the HR field as I desire.

Thank you for the advice and suggestions, but to be honest, I am a little bit fed up with sales activities, especially here in Kabul, Afghanistan. Due to the events of 2014, most businesses are on standby or have even stopped. Now, I need some help to secure the right position in HR within any organization.

I have also discussed the issue with my internal HR to explore other positions within my current company. They have advised me to finish my thesis and obtain a bachelor's degree before they can assist me further.

Thanks
