Is a Green Board for Hazardous Waste Legally Required at Our Main Gate? Seeking Advice

safetyfirst
Dear Forum, In our industry (Engineering industry), we are not listed among the industries involving Hazardous Processes as per The First Schedule of the Factories Act 1948. During the OHSAS audit, the auditors agreed with this but issued a Non-Conformance (NC) stating that legally, we should display a Green Board for Hazardous Waste at the main gate, as per the Supreme Court Notification of 2005. We do have an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).

Legal Requirement for Green Board Display

Is it a legal requirement to have the Green Board for Hazardous Waste Display at the main gate?

Looking forward to your replies.

ISO/OHSAS and the Green Board Requirement

ISO/OHSAS pertaining to the environment includes a clause about the Green Board. It is mandatory to display the Green Board to attain certification. Items such as ETP sludge, used machine oil, oil-soaked cotton, and glass wool are also classified as hazardous waste. Therefore, what the auditor has raised is correct.
