I understand that the appropriate Government (Ministry of Labour & Employment, Central Government) has not issued a notification of its intention to amend Rule 50 of ESI (Central Rules), 1950 regarding the enhancement of the wage ceiling under the ESI Act, 1948. Therefore, as of the current date, the wage ceiling remains up to and including Rs. 15,000 per month only and has not been increased.
After the issuance of the notification of intention, the appropriate Government typically allows a period of thirty days for filing objections, etc. Following the lapse of this period of intention notification, the final notification is issued by the appropriate Government, indicating the date from which the amended provisions of the Rules will be applicable.
Retired Insured Persons can only avail of Medical Benefits under the ESI Act, 1948, as per Rule 61 of ESI (Central) Rules, 1950, subject to certain conditions specified in the Rules. If desired, any retired Insured Person can contact the appropriate Branch Office of ESIC along with the documentary proof of eligibility and payment of charges as stipulated in the said Rule.
Thank you.
Best regards
