Re: Registration Of Principal Employer For Civil Contractor ,under Contr Lab Act,1970

HR@glance
Dear Seniors,

My company is registered under the Shops and Establishments Act in Madhya Pradesh. We are going to start civil work on our new factory premises, a manufacturing unit which will undergo construction for at least 6 months.

Please guide us on the type of registration required as a principal employer for deploying civil contractors and service providers during the project work.

Your prompt guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

During the construction of the factory premises after the approval of the factory plans by the factory inspector, you will have to register under the Building and Construction Workers Act of 1996. Additionally, contractors engaged in these activities will be covered under the Contract Labour Act. Therefore, you must obtain a registration certificate under the Contract Labour Act, and the contractor engaging 20 or more workers must acquire a labor license. Before commencing production, it is necessary to obtain a factory license upon the completion of civil work.
