Feeling Stuck in My Banking Career: What Courses Can Help Me Move Forward?

kumar516
Hi everyone, I have been working with a bank for the past 3 years in the clearing section (backend operations). I am a BSc (electronics) graduate. When I joined the company, I had completed an MBA (finance) while working. However, after 3 years, I still find myself in an entry-level role. Currently, my package is 2.50 lakh per annum. I am considering changing companies, but I have learned that there are not many opportunities in my field. Since I am not interested in pursuing a career in marketing, I am seeking advice on which courses could help me advance my career.

Thank you.

You have a BSc in Electronics, so why did you accept a job in banking for clearing? Anyhow, it is not too late. Choose either electronics as your career path or the finance field for your career.

Thoroughly analyze your interests and select a field, but be prepared for one thing: you may have to start from the initial level in any field because all your previous experience will count for nothing.

Exploring Career Opportunities in Banking

Banking is an expanding sector. The fact that you have an MBA in Finance shows that you are interested in banking and finance disciplines. You can explore the following options:

1. The very fact that you spent three years in clearing shows that you have some knowledge of general banking procedures. Find out whether you can switch over to core banking functions within your current bank.

2. You can prepare yourself to appear for probationary officer or management trainee positions in public sector banks. Please review the advertisements they publish in leading newspapers or display on their websites.

3. The acquisition of an MBA in Finance and three years of banking experience, if properly presented in terms of the skills and knowledge gained during these years, can help you secure a job in banks.
