Coverage of Probationers Under Legislation
Probationers are also covered under these legislations. There is nothing called a grace period. There have been many posts on this fundamental issue. For the benefit of the poster, I am providing the following principles:
1. All employees, whether temporary, confirmed, probationers, or contract employees, are covered under these legislations.
2. All employees drawing wages up to Rs 6,500 are covered under PF, and up to Rs 15,000 are covered under ESI.
3. Trainees under Standing Orders or under the Apprentices Act are not covered.
4. There is no grace period, and employees are covered from day one.
