Is Declaring a Holiday List Mandatory Under Karnataka Shops Act? Who Needs It?

Hi all, please let me know if it is compulsory to declare the holiday list under the Karnataka Shops and Establishment Act. If so, to whom should we send the declaration?

Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act

The Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act is a state legislation and therefore varies from state to state. The Karnataka Act provides for five days of mandatory holidays (January 26, May 1, August 15, October 2, and November 1) and five other holidays. (Please correct me if there is any new amendment to it)

Of these, May 1 and November 1 are not available as holidays for Government of India undertakings. This Act, unlike other states' similar Acts, has a provision that the general election day should be a holiday with pay. This implies that no further communication in this regard is required from the Labour Department/Department of Factories and Boilers/Plantations/Mines, as the case may be.

The above information is true. You have to submit the holiday list at the beginning of the year to the labor department and obtain their acknowledgment.

Any specific format do we need to follow to submit the holiday list? Please suggest, and if yes, please share the format.
