Feeling Confused About MBA Specializations and Colleges for a Solar Energy Career? Let's Discuss!

BUBUN1981
Hi, I have completed my engineering (ECE) in 2005 from Kolkata. For the last 4 years, I have been working on renewable energy projects, specifically in the solar field. Now, I am interested in pursuing an MBA through distance learning. Could you please provide me with information on the specialization subjects and recommend colleges? I would appreciate your guidance on this matter as I am feeling quite confused.

First of all, you need to understand why and which MBA you want to pursue. I advise going for a full-time Executive MBA or PG management program designed for working executives from top-level institutes like SP Jain, ISB Hyderabad, XLRI, and IIM.

If your job does not allow for a full-time commitment, consider a part-time MBA or Evening MBA from a reputable institute. Some institutes offering such programs include:

- JBIMS, Mumbai
- ADMI, Mumbai
- N L Dalmia, Mira Road (Mumbai)
- FMS, Delhi
- XLRI
- ISM Dhanbad

If a part-time program is not suitable, opt for an MBA from well-established central and state universities only. Avoid pursuing an MBA from private universities in India. Some good university options are:

- Pondicherry University, DDE
- University of Madras, DDE
- Anna University
- Kurukshetra University
- Bharti University

Evaluating the Value of an MBA

Check whether obtaining an MBA will add value to your current job profile; this is the most crucial factor to consider. Additionally, review any Performance Development Plans and Training & Development programs offered by your company, demonstrating your willingness to participate in them. For those eager to enhance their skills, these programs can significantly contribute to your learning and overall profile. Moreover, assess whether your current employer would support your further education financially.
