Can I Start a New Mutual Funds Association in India with Different Objectives?

Hi, I wanted to form an association in India and had the following query:

1. There is already an association (e.g., Association of Mutual Funds in India). Can I form my association for mutual funds in India with a different name?
2. If the answer is no to the above question, my association will have a different objective. In AMFI, membership is available to companies registered with SEBI. In my association, all mutual funds companies can avail membership. Can I form my association of mutual funds in India?

Government Approval for Association Formation

Such types of formations of associations require approval from the relevant government body. Only after obtaining this approval can the entire planning and strategies be implemented.

I received a reply from one of your contributing members that it is possible to form an association. He did not mention anything about approval from the government body. Now, I'm not sure whose advice is correct.
