Feeling Stuck on the Bench: Is It Wise to Switch to a 4th Company in 3 Years?

moganbabu89
Hi, I have a total of 2 years and 7 months of experience in IT. Currently, I am working at my 3rd company, where I have been for 3 months. I am feeling disinterested in my current role because I have not yet been assigned to any projects and am on the bench. I am considering changing companies. Are there any difficulties in switching to a 4th company within 3 years? I would appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you.
Mahr
It doesn't sound good to hear that you are in your third company within three years of your career. Nowadays, many companies are looking for candidates who have worked at least three years in one company. If you want to switch jobs because you are on the bench, then you should approach your immediate supervisor and discuss the situation, as they would have hired you with a specific business plan in mind. Avoid making hasty decisions that may not benefit you in the long run. Good luck!

On the other side, you can decide how you want your career to be. It basically arises because of the packages a company offers. In the future, try to go through as much as you can about the company before accepting their offer. Now it's not too late. You can check out a good company where you can spend at least three to five years to make your profile stronger. Frequent changes will spoil your career, and recruiters will see you as a frequent job jumper, hindering your professional growth. It's up to you to decide. Achieve something before you submit your resignation. All the best!

Thank you for your valuable reply. I asked the seniors, and they mentioned that there are no projects available right now. I am very confused about whether I should consider changing the company or not. Could you please provide suggestions for the next step? Additionally, what reasons can I give for leaving my current company when applying to a new company? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
