Resignation and Bond Period Confusion: When Should Companies Respond and Issue Letters?

I have some questions, can anyone please clarify? Because on CiteHR, there are so many lawyers and helpful people.

Questions on Resignation and Bond Period

1. If anyone sends a resignation via email, when should the company reply?
2. If anyone doesn't complete his/her bond period, can they ask for a relieving and experience letter?

Well, if there is no leave or off day, then it should be replied to within one or two working days. It may be an acceptance or confirmation of receiving the email.

Resignation via Email and Company Acknowledgment

There are two things:

1. If a resignation is sent by email, it can be accepted by the company. It is always advisable to send a hard copy to process and get the acceptance letter. In this case, if it is sent by speed post/courier, you have the acknowledgment, and they will have to necessarily reply. On the other hand, they may say that they have not received the mail. First, try to get the acknowledgment from the company for having received the resignation letter and then follow up.

Terms and Conditions of Resignation

2. Getting relieved and accepting the resignation depends on the terms and conditions of your appointment order. Whatever is mentioned as the notice period, you will have to follow. If you have signed a bond, then the conditions on the bond apply. If it is mentioned about the amount payable if you opt out before the stipulated period, then you will have to pay the amount. However, it is for the company to insist on the payment and acceptance of the resignation.

You must act accordingly and get relieved from the company properly for your future career and growth.

Handling Employee Resignations

1. If you receive an employee resignation, it would be better to speak with him/her before responding to the email. In some cases, employees make hasty decisions due to work pressure, reprimands from superiors, or an ineffective work environment. It would be beneficial for the company if HR or another person from senior management discusses the resignation and comes up with the best solution. The response should be given within 24 to 48 hours or 2 working days.

Provision of Experience and Relieving Letters During Bond Period

2. Generally, experience and relieving letters will not be provided during the bond period. However, it depends on the rules and conditions mentioned in the bond.
