It is more a phylosophy of the comapny about it's employees that will govern the policy on such aoccassions. There are companies who believe in the phylosophy that a human resource has value for ever to it and even felicitate the ex-emplyees for their contributions to the company under their companies' policies, believing that it is only the employer and employee relationship that is severed on the resignations but not the recruiter and resource relationship, thus sending a message to them that it is willing to hire them in future and it's doors are open to them.
Thus there is no hard and fast rule governing a send off policy.
