Salary Deduction Dilemma: Should We Dock Pay for Sunday if Leave Spans Saturday and Monday?

meenu08
Hi,

Ours is a small company. If an employee takes off on Saturday as well as Monday, should his salary for Sunday be deducted? I mean if he takes leave in continuity, should his salary for Sunday be deducted. Saturday is a working day for us.

Please help.

Normally, earned leaves and sick leaves are counted if a Sunday or holiday falls in between. Please clarify whether your company provides this type of leave.

Hi,

Our dear friend has said very truly that if any Sunday or holiday comes in between two consecutive working days of leave, then that day will also be assumed as leave. Most companies structure their leave policy accordingly.

Hi,

Actually, it depends on the company you are working for. In my organization, if you take a leave on Friday and Monday (we have Saturday and Sunday fixed offs), then only a leave of 2 days is calculated!

Hi,

Sunday/weekly off (in the case of factories) should not be counted as it is a weekly off and has been rightfully earned by the person. It also goes well with employees.

Best wishes,
