Is Paying for LinkedIn and Facebook Accounts Worth It for Recruitment in HR?

Please let me know if having a paid account on social sites like LinkedIn and Facebook (My Parichay) is beneficial for recruitment. I have been working in an IT company as an Assistant Manager HR for the last 6 years.

Hi Divya,

I completely agree with Mahesh that social networking sites will play a major role in the recruitment/staffing process. The only thing that we need to understand is our requirement and based on that, how should we use the sites.

Thanks, Mahesh, for sharing a few of the links.

I agree with the other panelist. Based on my experience, I have seen that most recruiters scan through the LinkedIn profiles of candidates, especially for senior positions. Additionally, social networking sites provide you with job leads. Join the groups of your interest on these sites, and you will be receiving regular job postings.

I do agree with Mahesh. The mode of recruitment differs at each stage. Earlier, we had the traditional way of recruiting, then e-recruiting came into play, and now we are into mobile recruiting. Most people use social websites for recruiting candidates quickly. Additionally, people have easy access to the internet on their mobile devices, making it even easier to attract a pool of candidates via social networking.

Thank you so much, Mahesh, for the valuable links.
