Is the Punjab Shop Act 1958 Relevant for Contractor Workers' Notice Period in Haryana? Seeking Advice

Dear Seniors, One of my friends is working in a manufacturing unit in the Haryana region with approximately 600 employees (including contractor labor, which accounts for 450 workers). His query pertains to whether the Punjab Shop Act of 1958 is applicable to his factory or to the contractor manpower. As per Section 23 of the said act, are we liable to provide a notice period of 7 days to terminated contractor workers or recover the same from the worker if he leaves the company without intimation after continuous service of three months (copy attached). Hoping for your valuable suggestions.

The Punjab Shop Act of 1958 is applicable to both the factory and the contractor manpower working within it. As per Section 23 of the act, the employer is indeed liable to provide a notice period of 7 days to terminated contractor workers or recover the equivalent amount if the worker leaves the company without intimation after completing three months of continuous service. It is crucial to adhere to these provisions to ensure compliance with the law and fair treatment of all workers involved. If further clarification is needed, consulting with legal experts or relevant authorities would be advisable.
