How Can I Use Excel to Calculate Part-Time Employee Working Hours in Afghanistan?

Parwiz
Hi Dear Friends, I come back to all of you to seek your knowledge by solving a problem using a FORMULA. In Afghanistan, the standard working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, which equals 8 hours. If an employee is working part-time, for example, from 9 AM to 4 PM, 10 AM to 4 PM, or 1 PM to 4 PM, they work 7, 6, or 4 hours a day, respectively.

Testing Working Hours in Excel

I am planning to test this in an Excel sheet by using a formula to input in-out hours and automatically display the total working hours, as shown in the attached template. Your help on this matter would be highly appreciated!

Many thanks in advance!

You can simply find out the difference in both times by subtracting the in-time from the out-time (=D2-C2). Then, change the format of the result cell (E2) to 'h:mm'.

You can refer to the modification I made in your template (I changed one employee's out time for more clarity).

Have a nice day!

Regards,
