I was working in an MNC company in Chennai and had over 5 years of experience in the IT industry. I took a two-week leave due to health issues, and my manager was well aware of this. I requested permission for an additional week of leave via email due to my health condition, but he did not respond. Suddenly, a Justification of Absence (JA) was raised, and I received the JA letter a day later. I immediately called my manager and explained the situation as the letter stated I should report to the office by a certain date. I informed him about my health issue and requested leave, but he did not provide a response, only directing me to speak with HR.
When I approached HR, they advised me to discuss the matter with my manager. After three days, I received a termination letter stating that I had failed to respond to the previous communication. I contacted my manager and sent an email, but I am unsure why I was terminated.
Subsequently, I was instructed to liaise with the separation team; however, they did not respond to my queries and only sent automated emails requesting payment and informing me that I would not receive my relieving letter. They stated they would provide an experience letter indicating termination from work, with an additional requirement to pay 75K.
I am deeply troubled by the treatment I have received as an employee. I had communicated my health condition to my manager and assured him that upon returning, I would dedicate extra time to complete pending tasks. I was not involved in any client projects, focusing solely on internal organizational projects, and consistently updated my manager on my health status.
Despite following up for a year to obtain my documents, I have yet to receive them. I am experiencing severe stress and depression, contemplating drastic measures. The repercussions of this situation have hindered my job prospects, leading me to work for a temporary position in a small company where the salary is insufficient to meet my financial obligations. Furthermore, my father's workplace has closed down, placing the responsibility of supporting my family on me. I am unsure whom to approach to resolve these issues.
Please advise me on the best course of action.
Thanks,
Ram
