Need Help Regarding Salary

Hi All,
Please tell me if an employee joins on Tuesday is there any rule that the salary of immediate sunday will be deducted if he/she has not completed his 6 days a week cycle.
I have joined on 10th Sept 2013 and my accountant has deducted my salary for 15th Sept 13 and said it is a rule that the new joinee has to work for 6 day (only for the first week) or else he/she is not eligible to get paid for the first sunday. Please tell me if this is justifying.

If they deducted your salary for Sunday stating you should have worked 6 days to earn a paid holiday, they're wrong.
This might be a small and private firms. Many firms tweak the rules and regulations and cite it's their policy to do so. Since many people do not question or argue, they seem to have an advantage.
Ideally, the payment is to be given to every day worked and all paid holidays / weekly offs are a part of it.
So even if you join on a Saturday, you should be paid for the next day weekly off on Sunday just like others in your firm.

Well, the employee's salary get calculated from the day of joining and there's no way to deduct the salary for the particular reason specified. I would say that no any registered or professional company will do like this. I must be some low level type of company that customised the policy for their benefit only.

Dear Suguna: Pl see your offer of appointment, are you being paid for the days worked or you are paid monthly. In case of daily wages, the accountant is right in deducting the salary but for any monthly salaried personnel, the payment for sunday is included unless you were absent on saturday and monday. Pl check and let us all know. KK

Dear sugana,
You are eligible for Sunday because as soon as you join on Saturday, the relationship between Employer & Employee tied up.
Now, think in another way, if saturday OR any other day is your last working days, you will be not elegible for for sunday OR very
next day payment as relationship is broken.

Not justified ethically and morally. Legally also questionalble . Thus unjustifed albeit their own convenient rules ! . Please take up politely with Management for just and fair treatment . regards . TS Narasimhan
