My salary is Rs. 11,925/-, with the last PF deduction amount being Rs. 1,000/-. I worked for 5 years. During my time working, I met with an accident in which I lost both my legs. Now, I am a 100% disabled person. I would like to inquire about the amount I am eligible to receive as a pension.

You will receive a pension as per paragraphs 12(2) and 15 of the pension scheme, which will be approximately Rs 460/-.

The entire concept of a pension at this rate seems to be a joke on the worker. No wonder people try to avoid PF contributions or try to draw away the pension. A person who was getting a salary of 11,000 will get a pension of 450 per month. It won't even give him a decent meal for one week!

Hi Saswata Banerjee, can you please elaborate on how the pension is calculated? I hope this information will be useful for upcoming readers like myself.

Thanks & Regards,

The calculation is: Pensionable salary × pensionable service divided by 70.

Dear all seniors,

First of all, I thank Mr. Varghese Mathew for his reply, and I also want to share something about our government scheme. I am getting Rs. 10,000/- per month for my disability through ESIC. It's only a disability scheme, not a pension scheme. This amount I can receive while I am alive, but after my death, my family will not be able to receive it because it's not a pension scheme. Please, can anyone tell me about the PF pension scheme? Also, is it possible to receive more in the PF Pension because they deduct Rs. 1,000/- per month.

Thanks & Regards,
B. Vinoth Kumar.

Provident Fund and Pension Details

The amount deducted from your salary towards the provident fund can be withdrawn by submitting Form 19. The contribution to the pension fund is paid by the employer. In the unfortunate event you mentioned in the third paragraph above, I believe your family will receive a widow pension. The details will be posted later.

Regards,
Varghese Mathew
