Can we switch from BPO industry to other industry after a few years?

Being Sakshi
I would like to ask all HR professionals & other members, for their opinion and advice regarding HR in BPO industry.

I have completed my MBA with HR specialization but not even a single company came for HR, so now i am searching by my own and now from one of the BPO i am getting offer.

I have three questions in mind:-

First is that should a fresher go for a BPO?

Because domestic BPO's are having less professionalism in terms of etiquette and talking and all. Is there any growth?

Second is that they are offering me HR role in there back office sector in terms of handling salary and other stuffs, helping managers and etc. except recruitment, so is the role will help me in future to get a HR Generalist role??

and last but not the least is Can we switch from BPO industry to other industry after a few years?

I am very much confused about it, i really need your valuable feedback.

Hi Sakshi,

I would like to first answer to your last question:

Yes you can. I am also from BPO industry. Today I am working with IT firm. I have a learnt a lot in BPO as well.

Second is that they are offering me HR role in there back office sector in terms of handling salary and other stuffs, helping managers and etc. except recruitment, so is the role will help me in future to get a HR Generalist role??

Yes it will certainly help you getting into HR Generalist role but you have to work not only hard but smart also. You have to prove your self in this competition.

First is that should a fresher go for a BPO?

Please go ahead and take up a job in BPO if you are getting it. In your career you may want to work with fortune 500+ companies and you will work but to reach there you have to start from some where then why not BPO? Experiance comes only with exposure. If you are concern about professionalism and all you have to be assured that you do not misbehave with anyone and you are professional enough to understand your duty.

Hope it helps!!!

All the Best!!!!
