Are Employees with ESI Coverage Entitled to Sick Leave Under Company Policy?

I am new to the blog. I am working as an HR Trainee in a private company. I have a query regarding whether the employees covered under ESI are eligible for sick leaves under the company policy. Kindly let me know about this.

Whatever the company policy may be, if anyone is covered under ESIC, they are not eligible for sick leave because sickness benefits are already provided to them by ESIC itself.

Acts are a minimum as the provisions are in ESI; there is no restriction for providing over and above facilities to employees.

Thank you for the information. Could you let me know if there is a prescribed section under any act stating that sick leaves are not given to employees covered under ESIC? If so, could you please share it?
