Is It Legal for a Company to Mislead About Office Locations in Offer Letters?

rkc_charan
I joined a Hyderabad-based life sciences company through my campus placement as an area manager for the West region. The offer letter they provided mentioned that my posting would be at their corporate office in Mumbai. However, the reality is that the company never had and still does not have any such office in Mumbai. They have had only one office in Hyderabad since their inception. Please advise if this is illegal.

Please confirm with the HR of the said company. It may be a typing error, or they might have a corporate office in Mumbai which you or your resources may not be aware of.

Furthermore, if your posting is as an Area Manager for the western region, they may be planning for a corporate office in Mumbai. For sales/field jobs, offices are not mandatory.
