Need Help Drafting a Transfer Request Email to Move from Admin to HR?

gaurav.kashyap
At the very outset, kindly excuse me for taking your precious time to read my request in your busy schedule. I am working in the administration department of a new development firm for the last 5 years. I completed my MBA in HRM 4 years ago and have been trying for a transfer to HRM since then. Now, I have received a response from the Head of the HR Department to email my VP HRM regarding the same. Could you please help me with drafting a sample transfer request email? I would be grateful if you could provide this on priority.

Thanks & regards,
Gaurav

It is good to note that finally, you will get to the place where you wanted to be. However, I think before approaching our members, you can always attempt to draft something on your own and ask for corrections or improvements.

Please send a note on similar lines as below (modify it suitably):

Sample Transfer Request Email

Dear Sir,

I have been working in Administration for the last 5 years and performing various tasks. However, I am a qualified postgraduate in HR from (mention your degree, university, etc.) of (year) and wish to move to the HR department.

May I please request you to transfer me to HR? I aim to further contribute to the progress and growth of this organization.

Attached is my degree certificate for your perusal.

I hope my request will be considered favorably.

Thank you.

Yours truly,

Vaishalee Parkhi

Hope it helps and all the best!

Vaishalee Parkhi has given you a very good draft. How did your HR department head inform you? Was it verbal or written? Was there a copy to the VP (HR)? Answers to the above will enable you to finalize your draft. Whatever you do (marking a copy or not to the HR department head/giving the reference, etc.), please take the HR department head into confidence before you act further.

Since you are seeking a change to HR, it would have been in the fitness of things that you first make your own draft and then seek the approval of seniors. As it is now, you still have one more chance for the same!

Wish you good luck.

Regards,
V. Raghunathan
