How to Resolve Name Discrepancies in EPF Records for Retrenched Workers?

Dear Seniors,

Recently, we have conducted a retrenchment affecting around 350 workers. Now, their EPF needs to be withdrawn. However, a problem has arisen due to discrepancies in the spelling of the names and fathers' names of the workers initially. For example:

Name in EPF records | Name in Bank Account
Workman Name - Ram Singh | Ram Singh Rawat
Father's Name - Diwan Singh | Diwan Singh Rawat
and vice versa.

Please advise on how to correct these errors to facilitate the withdrawal of the EPF and EPS amounts.

You have to write a separate letter mentioning the correct and existing name along with supporting documents to convince the PF authorities.

I second the comment of Alphonse. Please prepare a detailed list of individuals for whom you wish to change the name and then submit it to the PF commissioner. Try to schedule a discussion by obtaining a prior appointment.

Subsequently, check with the EDP department of EPFO to see if they require the information in an electronic format for ease of processing the changes quickly. However, it is highly likely that the employer will need to visit the EPFO office to finalize the changes.
