ESI Contribution For Civil Work Doing Ouside Company Premises

KUMARDQS
Dear Seniors,

Sir, my company has conducted some civil work on another site owned by the company for erecting and testing some equipment. The work has been contracted, and the materials have been provided by the company. The site is located far away, and I am unsure if the area falls under the ESI jurisdiction.

Could you kindly advise whether we need to pay ESI for labor charges?

Thank you.

With Regards,

Dear Friend,

If the place is not covered under the ESI Scheme, you need not pay the ESI contribution for labor charges. However, you should receive notification from the ESI authorities regarding the non-coverage of ESI at that place and attach it with the bill. This will make it easier to show to the enforcement officer during inspections.

Sir,

Thank you very much for your advice.

If the work is done outside the company premises and it is a new project where there were no prior business activities, buildings, or other ongoing work, is it necessary to make the payment?

Kindly advise, sir.

Thanks & Regards,

Mohan Kumar
