Stuck Without a Relieving Letter: How Can I Resolve This HR Dilemma?

Awadhendra
I am Awadhendra Kumar Tiwari. I was working at Chetu for the past 1.4 years. Here, I would like to discuss a few problems that I am currently facing. Three months ago, I resigned from Chetu, and subsequently, they provided me with an increment letter. I accepted the increment verbally but did not sign any document. However, the document mentioned that by accepting the increment, I am committed to staying with the company for an additional year. Despite this, I no longer wish to work there and have formally resigned. I am willing to serve my notice period, but they have requested me to complete the exit process. I have fulfilled all the requirements of the exit process and returned all company-provided items. I have yet to receive the incremented salary. However, they are now withholding my relieving letter and other documents. Furthermore, my attempts to meet with HR have been unsuccessful as they are not available to meet with me. Although they have acknowledged my resignation and the completion of the exit process, they are refusing to provide me with the relieving letter.

I am seeking advice on what steps I can take next as I have made mistakes and find myself in a challenging situation. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Employment Issues and Seeking Advice

I am Awadhendra Kumar Tiwari. I was working at Chetu for the past 1.4 years. Here, I would like to discuss a few problems that I am facing today. Three months ago, I resigned from Chetu, and subsequently, they issued me an increment letter. I accepted the increment verbally but did not sign any document. However, the document stated that by accepting the increment, I was agreeing not to leave the company for a year. Despite this, I no longer wish to work there and have formally resigned. I am willing to serve my notice period, but they insist on completing the exit process.

I have fulfilled all the requirements of the exit process, returned all company-provided items, yet I have not received the incremented salary. However, they are withholding my relieving letter and other documents. Despite my attempts to meet with the HR department, they are avoiding me. They have acknowledged my resignation and my completion of the exit process, but they are unwilling to provide me with the relieving letter.

I must mention that I accepted the letter in person, but I did not sign any document. The letter explicitly stated that if I accepted it, I could not leave the company for another year, and if I chose to leave before that time, they would not issue any documents such as the relieving letter.

I am seeking advice on what steps I should take now. I realize I have made some mistakes and find myself in a difficult situation. Your help is crucial for my career advancement. Please assist me.

Thank you.

I'm working as HR in a consultancy firm in Delhi. A few questions before considering the suggestions:

- Was the increment part of the review process?
- Was there any other reason for the increment?
- What were your reasons for leaving?
- You mentioned in your last statement, "As I did some mistakes and got stuck in a big problem," what mistakes are you referring to?
