Hi,
Discharge:
Discharge refers to relieving a person of all the responsibilities assigned on the job when he/she resigns from their duties. The charge (work) is then assigned to someone else within the organization.
Dismissal:
Dismissal occurs when a person is found engaged in misconduct that is not of sufficient magnitude to warrant disciplinary action. It can happen if the employer terminates the employment contract or if a fixed-term contract expires. Dismissal also takes place in cases of constructive dismissal (breach of contract by the employer leading to the employee's resignation) or deemed dismissal when a woman is not allowed to return to work after maternity leave. This is distinct from resignation, which is initiated by the employee and does not constitute dismissal.
Suspend:
The complete term is Suspension, which involves a temporary dismissal of a person from their job for various reasons such as fraud, theft, behavior, attitude, etc.
Termination:
Termination signifies the end, indicating that a person's services are no longer required. Termination follows suspension, during which an inquiry is conducted. If the person is found guilty in the inquiry, their job is terminated permanently.
Retrenchment:
'Retrenchment' denotes the termination of a workman's service by the employer for any reason other than disciplinary action. It does not include the termination of a workman's service due to the non-renewal or termination of an employment contract between the employer and the workman upon its expiry.
