How Should My Sister Explain a Two-Year Career Gap in Job Interviews?

Dear Seniors, Greetings for the day. My sister has completed her undergraduate studies in 2011. Due to some family and personal problems, she could not pursue further studies or take up any job. Now, she is looking to secure a job with her undergraduate qualification. If an interviewer asks her about the two-year gap in her career, what should she tell them? Kindly advise on the best approach in this situation.

Hi Mohan, It is always better to tell the truth in a more appropriate manner. She can explain her situation and also tell the interviewer that she was always interested in working, and due to unfortunate family situations, she did not get an opportunity to seek a job. Still, when she was at home, she engaged in enough reading, attended workshops, and participated in training to develop her skill set. You can also ask her to tell the interviewer that she is committed to working better and meeting expectations in any critical job environment. Her strong motivation factors have really brought her back to seek a job despite many distracting factors in life. She really looks forward to a career to prove herself.
