Facing Salary Delays Since March 2013: What Can Employees Do Legally?

#gaurav
Hi, I am working in a company that has 50 employees. Our salaries have been stopped since March 2013. The reason given by the company is a delay from the client. They paid the salary for March in June. However, from April to July, salaries have been stopped. The reason provided by the company is that the work is in the renewal process from the client, and they have given a future payment date in mid-September for April 2013.

Inquiry on Payment Policies and Employee Actions

I would like to know what the policies are for payment from the employer and what actions employees can take in this situation. Should the employer provide compensation to employees for these types of delays? Are there specific rules governing this? Additionally, where can we go to register a legal complaint, and what is the process?

Thanks.

If your "Wages" are less than Rs. 10,000 per month, then you will come within the purview definition of "Employee" under the Wages Act. You can file a complaint with the Inspector under the Wages Act.
