Is Managing Statutory Compliances Really Part of HR's Job? Seeking Clarification

I am presently working for one of the multinational companies, and I am responsible for handling all the statutory compliances of my employer. Can anyone please confirm if this activity falls under the role of the HR function?

Thank you.

I fully understand that we should only work for what we are hired for. However, if sometimes you are offered to do more, please consider it as an opportunity. Statutory Compliance is treated as a different department as the workload of maintaining the legal standards can be quite demanding. However, if your firm is small, it is quite doable. I don't mean to sound preachy, but please consider working in the Compliance Department as a skill addition. A thorough knowledge of the legal standards can only be achieved by working through it. You may need to step up your knowledge if this is the first time you are managing it.

Here's wishing you all the best!

I am sure that this function falls under HR. This is a great opportunity to enhance your skill set while working on statutory compliance, which is a crucial part of any company. You should be proud to work in the HR Department, which is a key department in any company.

Best of luck!

Request for Information on Statutory Records and Resources

I recently joined a manufacturing company as a service provider HR. Please provide me with details of the statutory records that need to be maintained by me, and what registers a principal employer should maintain. Also, kindly suggest books or resources through which I can update my knowledge. I am looking forward to your replies.

Thanks & Regards,

Since statutory compliances revolve around employees, they should always be under the control of Personnel/HR. In case of any non-compliance that would affect the employees, they will approach the HR department only. If the HR department is executing the statutory compliance correctly, the organization remains effective. I hope all of my friends would agree with me.

Thank you and regards,

I strongly believe compliance is a part of HR. As a key department of an organization, the HR/Personnel Department is supposed to maintain confidentiality and abide by the laws. You may consider taking this offer to enhance your knowledge.

All the best!
