Industries with Calculated Minimum Wage Rates

Minimum wage rates for canteens, clubs, soaps, and cosmetics have not been calculated due to some ambiguities.

Thank you.

There is a note on the special allowance circular stating that the circular is available on the website of Mahashram. However, it is not available. The site of GOM was last updated in August 2012. The circular published in February 2013 is also not available on this site.

Dear Kaustav ji,

You are right. I also understood from the circular revising the Special Allowance that the Government of Maharashtra has recently revised/refixed the basic rates for nine industries. I do not have the details/notifications yet. I will upload the details/notifications as soon as I receive them. In the meantime, other members are requested to try to find it from their sources and make it available to this forum.

Furthermore, please find attached the Gazette Notification from the GOM that revises the Basics for the following 3 industries out of the 9 listed:
1. Hotels and Restaurants
2. Canteens and Clubs
3. Drugs and Pharmaceuticals

The remaining notifications will be uploaded here as they become available. Other members are also encouraged to upload any notifications they may have.

Thank you.

Good work for uploading gazettes. I have a doubt, so could someone please clarify it? When the monthly wage rate is notified, the per-day wage rate is calculated by dividing by 30. Similarly, when a daily wage rate is given, working days are considered as 26. The difference lies in the fact that with the monthly wage rate, it is assumed that payment is on a monthly basis for all 30 days, so weekly offs are included in the calculation. On the other hand, with the daily wage rate, payment is not provided for weekly off days.

Now, the Maharashtra monthly wage rate is divided by 26 to arrive at the daily wage rate, which, according to me, is incorrect. This calculation assumes that the wage rate is meant for working days only. It should have been divided by 30. Could someone please clarify this?

Thanks.
