PGDM vs. MBA: Understanding the Differences
If a PGDM is to be equivalent to an MBA, then the course duration should be 2 years; a 1-year PGDM will not be equal to an MBA course.
The main reason why postgraduate courses are named PGDM is that when an institute is an autonomous body, i.e., not affiliated with any university and conducts management courses, such institutes cannot offer an MBA degree. Master of Business Administration degrees can only be granted by universities. However, it is important to remember that whether a student pursues a PGDM or an MBA, the institution where they are studying is crucial and can enhance their employability. If you pursue your management studies from a reputed college that is recognized and offers decent placements, then your chances of employment are better.
