Facing Legal Threats After Absconding: How Can I Handle This Situation?

I was working with a company for 3 years, and after 2 years, I went absconding due to harassment from the company over performance and leave sanctions. After 3 months, the company contacted me, stating they want reimbursement of a month's salary as per the appointment letter, or else they threaten to initiate legal action. I have no money to pay such an amount as I am a student and not currently working.

Questions Regarding Legal Actions and Resolution

I have the following questions:

1. What legal actions can the company take?
2. How do I deal with this situation?

Legal Consequences of Absconding

Specifically, I wanted to know if absconding can result in me going to jail and whether they would send people to forcefully get money from me. Would it be fine if I ignore their letter which states it will initiate legal action?

I have done nothing wrong to the company except that I have absconded because of the wretched working environment after two years with the company. They had threatened to terminate me when I submitted my resignation (previously on three different occasions) to serve the notice period, after which I was forced to withdraw my resignation. Finally, I decided to abscond rather than expose myself to the tormenting experience once again.
