Seeking Advice: Which HR Course Should I Pursue to Boost My Career After an MBA?

priyankasthul
Hello HR Members,

This is my 1st posting, and I'm asking for help from you. Please help me to solve my query. I have completed my MBA in HR and am presently working with a small company since November 2006 as an HR executive. Now, I want to pursue a course related to HR so that I can secure a good job and build a strong profile in a larger company. Could you please guide me on which course I should join?

Regards,
Priyanka :P

Hello Prinyaka,

You have not mentioned in HR where you want to go. Choose your career, i.e., Recruitment, Training & Development, Performance Appraisal, etc. So, you have to decide where you want to go or where your interest lies.

Hi,

First, you need to choose your role in HR, i.e., Recruitment, Training and Development, Generalist profile, Industrial Relations, Payroll, Performance Management, Corporate Communication (Corporate HR).

Once you choose one or more roles, you may look for some short courses in the respective subjects. IFCAI and some other reputable institutions offer various postgraduate certificate courses in HR.

Alternatively, to enhance your qualifications, you may pursue an M.Phil and later a PhD if you wish to continue your studies further.

Dear,

Visit the following website: www.nilem.com. It is the National Institute of Labor Education and Management. You will get information on courses related to HR. I myself have obtained a DLL from it during my MBA (HR).

Dear Umesh,

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions. I am very interested in the generalist profile of HR. Are there any courses that include everything?

My current job profile includes a variety of tasks such as recruitment, induction, policy-making, performance appraisal, and payroll, as I am the sole HR personnel in the company.

In your opinion, would it be better to specialize in a specific area or pursue an option that covers all aspects of HR?

Hi Priyanka,

It's Romy here. You are already an MBA HR, so what else could be better than this generalist PG degree? I don't think you should pursue any other generalist course. You can consider specialized courses in SAP HR. Recruitment and selection would be the best option as I believe it is an evergreen process.

Romy

Dear All,

One can do many things. To begin, one needs to have 'Self Knowledge' and discover what one loves to do. This is the starting point. The rest will follow automatically.

With love and care,
