Employees Refusing Overtime: How Should I Handle This Unexpected Challenge?

n_rjuna
In my factory, due to an over-order, we have decided to run for another 4 hours beyond the regular working time. However, my employees are refusing to perform overtime. Please help me as I am new to handling these issues.

Overtime Policy

In their appointment, it clearly states that if management decides to extend working hours, employees are required to perform the extra hours.

Thanks,

Nagaraj

The employee cannot refuse to carry out a job in overtime unless there is a genuine compelling reason. Refusing in a concerted manner may even amount to a strike. However, the objective is to obtain productivity—talk to them and offer them extra facilities like free breakfast/meal and transportation to drop them at home in addition to overtime at twice the rate. This may help. Obtain buy-in from leaders and opinion makers.

Wishing you good luck.
