We have hired 10 candidates from Polytechnic under the Apprentice Act. Now, please tell me whether we should pay PF and ESI. If not, how are their medical expenses being covered?
In my opinion, there is no need to pay PF and other benefits. However, you may consider including medical benefits in your standard procedures on par with your temporary employees. This approach could effectively address your issues.
Criteria for Apprentice Employees and Salary Details
Dear Hiring Team, I am writing to inquire about the criteria for apprentice employees. Could you please provide detailed information in a PDF file? Additionally, I am interested in obtaining data regarding the salary structure.
Apprentices won't be covered under the PF Act, hence there is no need to pay the provident fund. Either medical facilities provided by the company or ESI coverage must be ensured. Otherwise, in the case of an accident, your company will be in trouble.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 are excluded from the ESI and EPF Acts. Apprentices under the standing orders of the company are excluded from the EPF Act only, but they come under ESI. Since the EC Act is applicable to apprentices, it is advisable to cover them under a Personal Accident Insurance policy.
