I have submitted my resignation, which has been accepted with the effective date to serve a notice period of 1 month. Failure to do so will attract Notice Period Recovery. I have served 8 days, and for the shortfall of 22 days, I have agreed to pay the notice period.
Even after continuously requesting an early release date and expressing my willingness to buy out the notice period, I am not being granted an earlier date. I have been informed that my last working date will be 1 month after the resignation date, and it is up to me to choose the last date, but it will not change from their end.
I wonder if a potential new employer would still be willing to onboard me even if my release date is 20 days after the onboarding date. I am clear that I am ready to start the new job even if my release date is not accelerated.
What could be the possible consequences of receiving the relieving letter just one day before the completion of the notice period?
All I can say is that the next employer is prepared to onboard me, but I am perplexed as to why my last working date with my previous employer has not been adjusted despite numerous requests and a valid personal reason.
