We are a small organization with 12 employees. We wish to obtain a new PF number. Is it possible? How can we proceed?

As per the Act, a minimum of 20 employees should be working in an organization for PF eligibility. If there are fewer than 20 employees, you cannot obtain a new PF number for the organization.

Please contact your PF Commissioner in your region; they will assist you with the process. In special cases, the commissioner can grant permission to generate the code. You can obtain your code.

Why are you taking this additional avoidable trouble? The PF number would mean maintaining many records and a chance of dealing with the PF personnel. If you are not expecting the strength to be 20 in the near future, forget it. Don't invite trouble.
