EPFO and Aadhaar Card Linkage Update

The plan to link Employees Provident Fund (EPFO) benefits with the Aadhaar card has been abandoned. A pilot project is underway in 43 districts to provide direct cash transfer of subsidies through the Aadhaar card. Initially, EPF and pension were included in the scheme at the end of last year.

However, there were concerns about including EPF in the Aadhaar plan, as it was an independent scheme. A couple of days ago, EPFO issued instructions that its schemes have been excluded from the direct cash transfer plan.

In the absence of an Aadhaar card, any other ID proof considered valid to apply for an Aadhaar card had to be submitted. This was to ensure the scheme's benefits were mandatorily linked through the card.

Currently, the money is transferred through national electronic fund transfer (NEFT) or cheques are issued. EPFO officials were wary from the beginning about linking with Aadhaar due to potential complications in ensuring that each new employee had an Aadhaar number.

Thank you for the update. Are there any guidelines available for online PF fund transfer or withdrawal from EPFO? I need guidelines for both employees and employers. If available, please provide an update.

Thank you,

Regards,
Ashish
