Hi Supriya,
I believe from your post that you are the only one HR in your organization. Also perhaps you are the one who is initiating the HR process.
Please understand that HRs in any companies are the group of the most hated people in the firm. For reasons different for different people.
One of the most common reason is that people believe that HRs are going to be the police enforced by the management so that management can have details of what they are doing, saying for the management.
One needs to understand that change takes time and there is no predefined time frame that I can give you.
Another thing, if you're the one to initiate the HR functions in your organization, see to it that you also communicate to the staff about what are you doing for them and their benefit. This will give them a hint that whatever you are doing is not just because the management asked you to do so but also because there is hidden benefits for the employees as well.

Hi,
Thank you Ankita and shubhlash for replying my question.
@ Ankita: I am completely agree with you.
@ shubhlash : Yes it is very difficult for me to face the same thing everyday. I have never faces this kind of issue for so one month. Hardly it takes takes 1 or 2 weeks to be friendly with employees in any organisation. But end of the day i make understand myself that i am here to work only. No matter if any one talks with me or not. Bcoz i dont have any option then.

While I am partially in agreement especially with the statement mainly that of the "mindset" impression about HR being the policing body in the organization etc., but that's not entirely true in organizations that value the role played by HR. In some organizations they have a seat in board meetings, they play the advisory to management, they help build a culture thereby an image for the organization to become the "Dream Company" to join. There are several such stalwarts in our country, for the most recent please follow this for the latest that was on CITEHR a few month ago by one of our esteemed members Keshav Korgaonkar : https://www.citehr.com/452934-40-mos...ers-india.html

This apart the generation that went past has some great luminaries. Going back over the years, I can also recall a gentleman Gautam Ghosh (an XLRI Alumini) whose first job was in Satyam and has done a sterling job all though his career, and his "Guru" Prof. Madhukar Shukla, Prof. T.V. Rao who was teaching in the IIM are/were "masters." And just here within this community, speaking modestly I know for certain there are many of them well read, very knowledgeable, well accomplished, and highly respected.

To sum up all that I would say is you need to "show" that you can add value, and when you do this consistently your value goes up, and respect goes up. One of the things you should do to enable this happen is to keep learning and expanding your "wisdom base" because that is the 'USP' for HR, not just talker or fixers.

Final point "We go the beehive for honey, daring even the sting" so the one's who know the value of HR will know this too. It's how you think, how you grow.

Best wishes

Dear Supriya,
It will take some time. Be patient. As said above employee think Hr as a police force who will apply polices for the benefit of the organization only.
If you are planning to implement some policies, try to understand the implication it can have. What are the benefits for the organization and the employee.
Also you can discuss the new polices which needs to be implemented with senior managers etc first before implementing in the whole organization along with your manager. You need to make them understand the benefits of that.
Also you can start some employee engagement activities which will give some confidence to the employee that you are there for them also.
When you are about to implement some policy which is more beneficial for the organization and not much for the employees, dont implement it immediately. Try to see if you have some thing for the employees as well, some new policy or some thing new.
Give them both news. not only the bad news.
