Navigating Maternity Leave: What Salary Components Can I Expect from My Employer?

Hi All, I am working with a registered Trust of a Navratna PSU in India. All the employees of this Trust are hired on a contractual basis, which is subject to renewal from time to time. I have been working with this Trust for over 2.5 years and now wish to claim Maternity Leave. Apart from Basic Salary and Special Allowance, conveyance, Books & Periodicals are components of my salary breakdown. Besides salary, are there any maternity leave benefits that can be provided?

I would like to understand which salary components I can expect from my employer during my Maternity Leave. Kindly guide me.

You will be entitled to receive 12 weeks of leave with full salary (gross) as a maternity benefit and ₹3,500 as a maternity bonus. Except for this, no other benefits are payable unless any complications arise post-delivery. In such a case, you shall be further entitled to one month of leave with wages on the production of a medical certificate.

Please clarify once again about salary components like basic, HRA, conveyance, medical, and other allowances during maternity leave. Which components should I consider to pay as maternity benefits to employees?

Conveyance Allowance During Maternity Leave

Generally, "Conveyance Allowance" is considered outside the purview during Maternity Leave, as the employee does not attend the office/work. Apart from the above, all other allowances and incentives which are based on attendance, like Meal/Food Allowance, Uniform/Washing Allowance, any Field/Hardship Allowance, etc., are not admissible.
